About Speaker

Andy Li is a member of the Haxe Foundation. He is mostly a Haxe user but he also used Python heavily for scientific research while doing his PhD in the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. He is interested in programming language theories as well as mobile user interface, interactivity, installation art and generative graphics.

About the Topic

Want to utilize those high quality scientific Python libraries, but not so much of a fan of dynamic typing or imperative programming? Haxe is a modern, statically-typed programming language that compiles to Python, as well as 8 other targets (JS, Java, C#, C++ etc.). In this talk, Andy will introduce Haxe with a focus on its Python target. He will illustrate how to interop between Haxe and Python to get the best of both worlds, with examples of data analysis and visualization.
